Check out the little Stukas trying to get at Brauhausbier! This photo was taken at 65 mph!
I'm not going another mile, and you can't make me!
Ya know, since I've started this report, I've heard from other people who have done it, and the range of responses go from "It was awesome" to "It was a living hell!" Man, I don't know how to respond to the "living hell" bit. Did I have an excellent time because I have a positive attitude? Or maybe it didn't rain on us as much as others? Maybe it was because I was riding a bike that I didn't mind if it got rock chips? Maybe because I practiced a lot before I left doing off-road, bad traction stuff? Maybe it was because I was grateful to be in such a desolate place instead of my work cube? I guess I could speculate forever on this. I hope that those that go have a great attitude, are prepared for all weather, and have a bike they can trust. As my sig line says "Attitude is the difference between adventure and adversity". Everytime adversity punches you in the face, accept it and imagine the new story you can now tell. How many times have you done a road trip or something, and the sun was out and the butterflies were flying about, and everything was perfect. How well do you remember that trip 5 years later? Probably forgot most of the details. Hell, I'd have forgotten entire trips if I hadn't been reminded of "remember that time when we went to...". But the time your bike caught on fire, or you froze your ass off in the desert, or was helped by a stranger; those are the stories you tell around the campfire or to your kids, and you'll remember forever. Don't forget that all these little things are what makes our life.
